 I was truly blessed with a great selection of Bibles to review for Thomas Nelson.

Before my brother went overseas as a chef in the Middle East, he told me about the NET translation. As a nonnative English speaker it was a version he could understand and easily translate into the numerous languages he speaks. It is a great resource for communicating eternal truths.

In 1995 the NET Bible translation project began at the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature as an English version for distribution over the internet. Thus the “NET” Bible’s name. It was begun back when there was no free online Bible sites, like “pre-google” for those young  people who don’t remember the dark ages before internet, or what a BBS is. Bible translations have copyrights and limit the number of verses you can publish without paying royalties. This was a revolutionary idea to get the Bible online free to anyone.

Another goal they had was to keep it continually updated and to make corrections as needed, with feedback from pastors and teachers. Another thing they did was to make available an extensive amount of notes….more on that in a future post.

This edition of the NET Bible was a delightful surprise. Most Bibles geared to teens, young adults, or kids, have cutesy or dumbed down versions of adult study notes and questions. The “Young Women Love God Greatly” Bible provides information and how to study your Bible without talking down to the reader. Honestly I think this is my favourite Bible I have reviewed. I haven’t found anything that I dislike about it. I am nearing 50 and I look forward to adding it to my scripture reading . And I want to buy on for so many now!

"The Daniel Cure" by Susan Gregory

I am conflicted in my response to this book. We have a need in our country for spiritual guidance while we lack mentors. Many are desperate to know what a fast is and how to fast. We have a nation that is rebellious and individualistic. Isaiah 58 calls this out. What is the MOTIVATION of the fast? This book is a good resource for looking at a health/diet cleanse. Having had a friend who eradicated cancer from her body with a strict diet, I can attest to the health benefits. The introduction cites our need for spiritual, emotional and diet changes. We do seasonal juice "cleanses", stay away from GMOs, eat kosher...even a low-gluten intake. When faced with a breast cancer scare, my response was definite and focused on diet changes. I have not read the Original book "The Daniel Fast", which this book builds off of. Book Sneeze Co Parenting Works by Tammy Daughtry

I am not divorced, separated...not even thinking about it. However, we have counseling situations and my dearest friend is going thru this with her kids. This book is an excellent resource as it highlights things one may not have thought of addressing or considering. Statistics, surveys, advice and 10 yrs of experience come together in Tammy Daughtry's book.  The Author seeks to help you become a TEAMM - an acronym for "The End Adult Matters Most". Part of that is being a stable and effective parent, which is the first topic dealt with in the book.  Other topics include Parenting when things are impossible and when things go wrong, and advice on moving forward in your life after divorce.
