Chronological Life Application Study Bible
Tyndale has published the chronological life application study Bible second edition
It has both a chronological Table of contents and a canonical table of contents with a timeline that shows how each passage lines up historically. “Biblical history spans the entire course of time from the creation of the world to the time of the early followers of Jesus in the late first century A.D. At its most basic level, it is simply the story of God fashioning a people for Himself and redemptively interacting with them throughout history. From the creation of the world and the first human beings to the fall of humanity; to the calling of Abraham and the rise of Israel; to the return of Judah from exile Babylon; to the incarnation life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and finally to the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and all believers- God continually works to redeem people for Himself people he can lovingly blessed with good things as they seek him and find their helping him, the source of all good things .”
What differs in this from other chronological Bibles is the numerous study features. It contains outlines notes, maps, the timeline as mentioned above, and outlines, parallel passages, archaeological notes, charts, and diagrams, personality, profiles, textual notes for translations, and sectional, headings numerous articles that give a Jewish perspective, the harmony of the gospels plus dictionary, and concordance, and a glossary of Jewish terms. It also includes Bible readings for the Jewish year, which are traditionally known as the parsha Readings for the first five books of Moses and how to read them in order as they would at weekly meetings in the synagogue.
I have been very excited about this second edition. In the past when using other study Bibles and reading some of the notes. It has been disheartening to see things that expressed replacement theology or just frankly didn’t get the Jewish part Correct. What I am most excited for with this one is the editorial team sought out scholars with a Jewish background or who were Israeli believers. This enriches, the context of the articles, not only with biblical historical information, but with cultural information. I am reminded of the verse that says when Israel believes, it will be like life from the dead to the church. This edition is just a taste of that.
Also, personally, as I read through the editorial team and contributors list, there are over a dozen people I’ve had the privilege of knowing personally that are named. Many of whom I’ve had the privilege of listening to or being taught by. Several who are also dear friends.
I’m thankful that Tyndall House has put together the study Bible. I’m sure you will find out a valuable resource as well.
I purchased the Brown, leather, soft cover that is embossed with the growth rings of a tree. I found this to be a beautiful reminder of the history of time, and also from the blessing, “it is a tree of life to those who take hold of it.” The organization, Jews for Jesus also has a beautiful green cover edition that you can order through their website. https://store.jewsforjesus.org/products/chronological-life-application-study-bible
